In zone 3a, the last spring frost usually comes around May 20 and the first fall frost around Sep 10. Here is when to plant figs.

Note: winters in zone 3a are usually too cold for figs to survive outdoors. Grow it in a large pot and move it into a garage or indoors for winter.
